Care & Maintenance Guide
Document Information
Version 1.0 | Effective: 7 March 2026 | Applies to: All FurniOx furniture products | Following these guidelines helps preserve product quality and maintain warranty coverage.
General Care Guidelines
Clean surfaces regularly with a soft, slightly damp cloth followed by a dry cloth. Avoid abrasive cleaners, scouring pads, or harsh chemicals. Wipe up spills immediately to prevent staining or swelling. Do not place hot objects directly on furniture surfaces — always use coasters, trivets, or protective mats. Avoid dragging heavy objects across surfaces.
Solid Wood & Veneer Surfaces
Dust regularly with a soft, lint-free cloth following the grain direction. For deeper cleaning, use a mild soap solution and dry immediately. Apply furniture polish or wax 2-3 times per year to nourish the wood and maintain its lustre. Avoid silicone-based polishes. Protect from prolonged direct sunlight to prevent colour fading. Natural wood may develop a patina over time — this is normal and adds character.
Laminate & Melamine Surfaces
Clean with a damp cloth and mild household cleaner. For stubborn stains, use a non-abrasive cleaner and a soft cloth. Avoid excessive water — do not allow liquids to pool on surfaces or seep into edges. Laminate surfaces are heat-resistant but not heatproof; always use protective mats under hot items. Avoid cutting directly on laminate surfaces.
Metal Components
Clean metal parts with a soft damp cloth and dry thoroughly. For stainless steel, wipe in the direction of the grain. Avoid chlorine-based cleaners on metal surfaces. If scratches appear on painted metal, touch up promptly to prevent corrosion. Check metal legs and supports periodically for stability.
Hardware Maintenance
Check and tighten screws, bolts, and connectors every 6 months, particularly on frequently used items like desk chairs and cabinet doors. Lubricate hinges and drawer slides annually with a silicone-based lubricant. Soft-close mechanisms should be kept clean and free from debris. Replace worn-out bumpers and felt pads to protect floors.
Environmental Conditions
Maintain indoor temperature between 18-25°C and relative humidity between 40-60%. Avoid placing furniture near heat sources (radiators, fireplaces, heating vents) or in areas with excessive moisture (unventilated bathrooms). Sudden changes in temperature or humidity can cause wood to expand, contract, or warp. Use humidifiers or dehumidifiers as needed to maintain stable conditions.
Maintaining Your Warranty
Failure to follow these care and maintenance guidelines may void your warranty coverage. In particular, damage caused by improper cleaning methods, exposure to unsuitable environmental conditions, or unauthorised modifications is not covered under warranty. Keep your purchase documentation and this care guide for reference throughout the warranty period.
